High Satisfaction Rate with the European Schools
Former pupils of the European schools generally have a high opinion of their school and of the way it prepared them for higher education. That is one of the main conclusions of a study on the academic and professional career of the European Schools' graduates, based on a survey which was answered by roughly 3000 of them.
The study examines, among other things, where former pupils attend university, what subjects they study and in which sectors they later work. The results of the survey are analysed taking into account the particularities of the European Schools' curriculum.

11/10/07: If your children are educated bilingual and you are interested in scientific research, you can fill in this questionnaire in order to help the development of language research from the University of Utrecht. Please send the formular directly to Ms Aukje Lingsma: alingsma@taalstudio.nl

04/10/07: News again for the parents of pupils using the Amsterdam busses. Yesterday evening the first meeting of concerned parents took place in Amsterdam. Please follow this link to the summary of the meeting.  Furthermore we were informed by Jan de Wit Autocars that from next week onwards, the old OAD combination return route will be reestablished, like it was offered to the PA Committee on 26 April 2007.

10/09/07: The result of a meeting with the bus provider today, it is achieved that the "old" routes (as described in the letter of 30 May 2007) will be back in place from Monday, 24 September 2007. More detailed information will go out to the parents concerned by e-mail tomorrow.

07/09/07: Today we have been informed that from next Monday, 10 September 2007 onwards the small canals around the school will be cleaned. This might lead to problems on all roads surrounding the school. Please be aware of that! More information you'll find by clicking here.

07/09/07: For the meeting between the concerned parents and PAC last Wednesday, Mr van den Doel had prepared this questionnaire about the Amsterdam bus routes. If you have not already filled in the form, you can download it here and please send it back to us.

03/09/07: As the parents' concerned have been informed already by e-mail (if available!) this is the bus schedule for 4 September 2007. An evaluation of these routes and times will take place on 18 September and might be changed after that date, if certain requirements are fulfilled (as the number of inscriptions for example).

29/08/07: Initially it seemed as if the childminding service would commence with only a limited service in September, due to lack of enrolments. However from the outcome of the questionnaire, which the parents received at the beginning of the previous school year, it is assumed that this is a teething problem at the beginning of the service. The Parents' Association has therefore organised a financial guarantee to bridge this uncertainty. That means that the services rendered by Forte will be supplemented for a maximum of one year to ensure continuity in the afternoons .

The childminding service at the European School Bergen is therefore guaranteed on every school day, i.e. from 13h00 until 18h00 on the short days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and from 16h15 until 18h00 on the long days (Mondays and Thursdays) for the ensuing school year, 2007-2008.

The service in the mornings (before school) and during school holidays, as well as longer hours in the afternoons, will commence once sufficient enrolments have been received.

28/08/07: Please find here the letter, the Parents' Association sent today by e-mail to Jan de Wit Autocars. You'll be informed about the outcome as soon as possible.

27/08/07: Here you can read the letter from Jan de Wit Autocars, sent to all families  in Amsterdam and surroundings about the new routes and pick-up times as well as the return routes. The PA is busy to re-discuss the changes. More information will follow.

24/08/07: This information letter has been sent to all families, hwo have inscribed their children for the bus or taxi service between Alkmaar, Amsterdam and the school. Jan de Wit Autocars will inform the parents about the (new) routes and pick-up places within the coming days.

The Secondary school Education Committee Meeting with representation of teachers, pupils, parents and direction decided at its meeting in June 2003 to add a dress code to the school rules.

This reads as follows:
"All members of the school community must come to school suitably dressed on the working day. Their dress must not disturb the working atmosphere of our school. The Direction will have the final say in this matter."

Furthermore the school policies on ANTI-BULLYING and GIFTED & TALENTED PUPILS
have been decided upon (both policies can be read above):
  • A proactive approach will be taken aiming at preventing BULLYING by raising awareness of it, having strategies that promote a positive, supportive environment and having a procedure that will be followed if bullying should occur. [PDF-File]
  • The aim of the policy on GIFTED & TALENTED PUPILS is to recognize the
need for these pupils to develop their potential. Raising the attainment of these pupils is likely to raise the attainment level of the school in general. This will be done both by differentiation in class and by special projects. [PDF-File]
