PROJECTS
We - the parents
of the European School in Bergen are organised into the local Parents' Association (PA). The PA is the only legally accepted organisation representing the interests of the parents with regard to the Head of School and the visiting inspectors.
Our structure

The PA consists essentially of an elected Board and various sub-workgroups. Board members meet regularly and are always available to the parents for questions and information. A lively exchange of opinions and information between the Board and the parents is of extreme importance and is promoted by regular meetings.
Our tasks

The Board members of the PA deal above all with central questions on school life; important matters include guaranteeing the high level of education, replacement teaching, school trips etc. In addition the Board coordinates the tasks of the sub-workgroups (school books, transport, cantine, extra-curricular activities, etc.)

The PA at our school

The PA Board has the right to vote on internal school committees - just as the Head of School and the teacher representatives - for example on the administrative board, the education committees of the primary and secondary school, the canteen committee, the library committee.
The PA in the European School system

Board representatives of the local PA are members of INTERPARENTS, the umbrella organisation of the parent representatives from all European Schools. Via INTERPARENTS the parents are able to influence the preparatory (teaching)committees and the 'Board of Governors'.
